My first nightmare (that I can recall)

Anybody else remember their first nightmare?

I went to see Art Spiegelman speak in Dallas. Dr. Baldwin used MAUS in Literature of the Shoah. It was a good class.
When I was in college, there was about a two week time period when I had awful, terrible nightmares every night. They were so bad that I began to fear even going to sleep. Then one night I tried NOT listening to the radio as I was laying in bed. That solved it -- turns out the news was so horrible that it was lingering around in my mind.

And after I was kidnapped in Ecuador, I had awful nightmares about groups of Hispanic men making me do things I didn't want to do. The nightmares wouldn't go away, no matter how much therapy I went to. And then one day I got in touch with another kidnap victim via email. I wasn't sure what to ask, but he wrote me back and damned if that wasn't enough to stop the nightmares. I haven't had a kidnapping nightmare in four years. The human mind is a strange thing.
