Link Fixage

What with motherhood taking all my attention it has been a long time since I worked on my comics. Last year when I created a comic for my friend Chris (pictured above) I included a link in the comic to a wikipedia article on "Odalism".

At the time wikipedia defined Odalism as: a movement based on pride in one's own ancient cultural and religious traditions, rather than adopting those of outside cultures.

During a routine "Hey how are you doing, how's the baby" email Chris let me know that the wikipedia link now redirects to some organization that is has been accused of neo fascism! This is not really what he was looking for in an autobiographical comic.

So I have pulled myself out of semi-exile from the comic creating business to fix my boo boo. Click on the picture of Chris above to see his comic. Click on the first panel of his comic to see the link to the previously bad link that has now been changed to a much more appealing destination...it makes more sense if you just start clicking.

Sorry Chris.

What's this? A new comic you say?

Man it has been so long since I posted a "prepost" comic that one of the guys in the "Coming Soon" section has had a second kid and the other one is no longer becoming a priest! In my group of yet to be published contributers there have been divorces, new jobs, and even deaths. Life just kept whizzing by during the long sabbatical I took to better care for my wee one.

(Emphasis on Wee)

Achewood

I took this picture after Tony got to meet his favorite comic author Chris Onstad who writes ""Achewood" which if you haven't seen it...what is wrong with you? We didn't get a picture with Onstad because Tony was brimming over with nerd-love. Also Alice was getting sleepy.
We took Alice home and I told Tony he should go back to the signing. Tony looked at me like I was the best wife ever and pranced out of the house giggling.

Here is how Tony is the best husband ever. He was last in line at the end of the signing (Last Man Standing: a la the Great Outdoor Fight- that's for the Achewood fans) and he gave Chris Onstad a book of my comics! Sweet sweet man. This is something I would have been too embarrassed to do myself. So in honor of his brave marketing initiative I am finally updating my comic site. The comic I am loading is a re-run but it is in honor of JOE who got a little something special signed by Onstad that is coming to Lubbock for X-mas!!

Tomorrow...new comic. I promise.

New Comic

I made this comic into a poster for my Mother's office on her last birthday after she emerged victorious from a long legal battle.

Housekeeping

Hi Ya'll,

I have had a squirrelly sort of inconsistency when it comes to my archive page. Rather than going chronologically I have only linked to comics that follow the main "death" theme of this site. But you know what? Comics about making a sandwich are just as navel-gazing-rific as pondering my loved one's mortality.

So to be fair to my "filler/pregnancy/doing the laundry" comics I am sticking all those bad boys in order. Feel free to sashay through memory town and ride the links back to the very first comic (June 1st 2007).

My baby is due two weeks after Preposthumous turns one year old. Many happy returns to them both.

In other news, I am not entirely sure when (or if) I published this comic:

So if you've seen it before enjoy round two, if not welcome to new experiences!

I feel bad about the lack of comic lately

I am posting this at a coffee shop while Tony and I go through our new book "Your Real Estate Closing". This is an older comic but if you haven't seen it then it's new to you!

There is an interesting discussion next to me. A red-headed lady introduced herself to a gentleman in a baseball cap by saying, "Please excuse me, I have no tear-ducts". Then she put some drops in her eyes. She asked the fella if he attends her church. The fella says no and explains that he has his own fellowship that mostly works through participating in message boards. Right now he is going through a lengthy explanation of the road that he has traveled to come to this particular brand of faith. She has been nodding and administering eyedrops for the better part of a half hour.

She seems to be interested in returning to her book but his story is rather captivating (Guatemala, suicide attempts, firebug ministers). She just asked if she could pray for him. I feel bad about eavesdropping now.

This conversation reminded me of one of my few mildly biblically themed comics so I decided to post it.

Enjoy

First Ultrasound

Now that the holiday melee has abated I have slowly begun to turn my attention to the little person that I will be giving birth to around June-ish. Today's comic is about our first OBGYN visit and first ultrasound.
Go read it and then come back to me my pets.

Done? Good Job. Okay, so as you may have noticed the standard breast exam was a little bit unusual in that my beloved husband was standing over me at the time blushing like mad.

Here is the conversation he witnessed while trying not to look down.

Dr. Hart: "So you draw comics about Death?"
ME: "Well, people tell me how they would like to die and I illustrate what they imagine."
Dr. Hart: "What are you working on today"
ME: "Death by Zombie Apocalypse."
Dr. Hart: "I think I would prefer to be bitten by a zombie immediately rather than hiding in a basement with a shotgun all night only to get eaten at 6am right before the national guard shows up."
Me: "To each her own."

JOE's opus continues...

Today we venture to home of JOE's parents where we have been kindly offered a much needed break in the midst our 12 hour drive to Albuquerque. Tony and I have enjoyed the company of JOE's whole clan before today. We once went on a fine camping trip with the whole group (minus one member still in school).

Car trips have taken on a whole new meaning for me now that a small person is sitting on my bladder and causing my hips to ache pretty much constantly. I have been instructed to get out and walk every two hours. This goes against all my road trip instincts. Like everyone raised in the southwest I am a professional car-tripper. I have amused myself (sans radio) staring out the window of our station wagon for up to 20 hours at a stretch. The only stops were for gas and 5 minuet bathroom breaks. In my mind nothing short of a blown tire breaks up a a road trip.

I feel like such a pansy.

However, not wishing to piddle in the car I will do as my doctor suggests.

Happy Travels to you all.

First baby thingies

My fantastic sister and brother (in-law) gave us our very 1st baby outfit. I like the subtle programing for the baby.
"Prefer Mommy above all others"

I wholeheartedly approve since Tony has superhuman baby enticing abilities. During church services all the babies in front of us reach for Tony as if he were a giant neon Elmo doll.

Speaking of firsts, my Mom just found the baby it's first book: "Sheep in Shops"

Thank you family members for providing lovely treasures for our developing kid.

Tame that Filly(er)

I asked beloved husband to describe Achewood and he just got all misty eyed and couldn't speak...oh wait here he goes:

"Character and Dialogue driven web comic about cats and otters...heaven."
See for yourself if you haven't already (which you probably have) in the links section.
